At the beginning of 2025, we got the news that a relative had passed away – and Christine was the sole beneficiary. She had inherited their house, and everything left in it.
There was a lot left in it. It seemed like no matter how much we pulled out, the place was still full. Much of it was neglected and haphazardly stored. Mold had gotten into some of the basement items, and all of the vehicles – 5 cars, 4 motorcycles, a pop-up camper, and an outboard-motor boat – were derelict.
It took months and multiple large dumpsters to clear. One bright spot however was seeing two upright arcade cabinets at the back corner of the garage. We had no idea when or where the person had acquired them.
Once we had cleared enough out of the garage to access the arcades, we pulled them out to get a better look. At this point, we knew nothing of running and maintaining one of these machines. So it’s amazing that nothing caught fire as we blithely booted them up. It was exhilarating however
